LANtec of Louisiana was awarded a nationwide training contract with the United States Department of Justice in Washington DC in September 2012. This one million dollar project focuses on training US Attorneys, paralegals, and support staff on the challenging migration from Corel WordPerfect to Microsoft Word 2010. While WordPerfect has historically been the word-processing software of choice for legal professionals, many court personnel are now finding that Word 2010 is a more prevalent and compatible communication tool once the pain of conversion is overcome.

Awarded this project through their GSA contract and a competitive bid process, LANtec will be involved in training and supporting this migration endeavor through September 2013. When complete, LANtec will have trained more than 11,000 USAO employees over 830 training days in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam. Christy Brasseaux, Chief Operation Officer, added that “while LANtec has been granted similar contracts in the past, our focus has been primarily in Louisiana; we are excited to expand our footprint nationwide”.
